Well, that is until, we have a boat of our own, until then, knowledge is power and I am like a sponge absorbing everything trawler wise. Yes, we have decided on a Trawler as our live-aboard to see the world in our future.
So, another recommended book, that I purchased on Bookfinder.com is the classic book from George Buehler called The Troller Yacht Book: How to Cross Oceans Without Getting Wet or Going Broke.
So this is a boat that I will need to read and re-read again and highlight all kinds of tricks and ideas.
His philosophy is a lot more inline to mine and to Beebe's original principles, simplicity and safety as opposed to too high tech and vulnerable systems. If you subscribe to that perspective, then you will enjoy George's biased perspective and discussions. Because of his opinions, George's book is very much fun to read and enjoy. He has a lot of valid opinions on what makes a boat easy or complicated to handle and maintain.
If I really had the money, I would get myself a duck built to specs based on this book. Unfortunately, with my current commitment, this is impossible. I wish I read this book 10-15 years ago!
Great book!
