Not having much to update in terms of our cruising dream, we are looking and analyzing the next step.
We are forever vacillating between Selling the house outright or Renting it out.

Sell the House
Selling the house would permit us to buy a great liveaboard yacht, maybe even a Kadey Krogen 42! That would be the ultimate. We would no longer have to worries about up keeping the house, etc. We would be totally detached.
Renting it Out
The benefit of keeping the house really is long term financial one. Have somebody pay for our house, the house gaining value as well. This is what family members and friends are advising us to do. They think we would be crazy to sell the house outright to buy a boat!
If we do keep it, our budget for a boat is much smaller, and we fall in the category of fixing boats. Which is not a bad idea, as we would learn everything about its systems. I am tempted by that approach. I am even tempted by the White Spot Pirates approach and find something is disrepair and needing a lot of elbow grease of the next couple of years. The problem is always hearing horror stories on how much money can be sunk into a boat this way. The idea would be to still do all the work myself, but hiring people to teach me each part needed to still do it on the cheap and not sinking a hundred thousands in bringing a boat back up to date.
Decisions to be made...any input appreciated!
