I really hesitated about posting this entry, my mother always told me ”if you dont have something nice to say then keep your mouth shut”…but this is more a case of buyer beware, and maybe they will read this and improve their act! I am not so Canadian for this. I worked extensively throughout the USA, and one thing they thought me, you tell when you’re happy about service, but also communicate when the service is not there, that’s the only way they will improve!
We went to see see Port Credit Harbour Marina as we were visiting meeting a friend there. First impression, love the location, Port Credit has tons of beautiful restaurants bars, etc…First impression of the actual marina: scuzzy. And it goes downhill from there…
As I do reviews of marinas for liveaboards, I should do the good, the bad and ugly. In case you do not believe me, here are a few gems left on the interwebs about Port Credit Harbour Marina..
On Google Reviews, user that actually entered comments read something like this:
The worse marina in Ontario……………… Very dirty, disgusting and very very poorly managed they make you feel like they are doing you a favour by letting you stay in that filth.
And about the facilities (important for liveaboards:
As marinas go... Dirty, expensive, and poorly maintained. The laundry facilities leak and half the dryers don't work. The management give you the feeling that you are there for them, and not the otherway around.
Yelp is not kinder to Port Credit Harbour Marina
Yet this is about as dirty and rundown as you can get. I would not trust my beloved boat to this place nor could I recommend it.
Staff rude and scary. Bathrooms are seriously unhygienic (beware of the Hep-B potential) there as a serious bird issue on the roof of the warehouse.
ActiveCaptain is just as clear:
We just visited PCHM again in July 09. The place got even worse than it was in 2006. The Docks are in bad shape and the Showers are beyond anything.
The Town of Port Credit is still very nice.
Digging for nice comments, the best you can find are not about the marina:
Port Credit has a lot to offer in shopping and dining
It does have one of the best chandleries in southern Ontario on site.
I also heard that because they have their own power utility, they pretty much charge the winter liveaboards whatever they want.
Dommage, what a fantastic location.
AVOID UNLESS TRANSIENT and event then!
