Reading "Voyaging Under Power" - Cruising Dream (TEST)

Normally, I post a review when completed reading a book, but this book is so chock full of content that a quick review of the first few chapters read is in order.

The Bible

Most of the time I order used copies from Bookfinder.com, but Voyaging Under Power, the 4th edition has so much more than the 3rd, that I decided to spring for a new copy. I also decided against getting the Kindle edition as I wanted the hardcopy/hardcoper with me.

I am glad I did. So, so far (the first 5 chapters) basically make a case of why voyaging under power is the way to go.If you were not sure, reading this will definitely make the case for it. For comfort, and speed. You dont normally think as trawler for speed, but when you compare a passage between a trawler or sailboat, the trawler will win by a large margin everytime.

Chapter 6 gets into the formulas of evaluating the boats, I will have to reread it and apply them to see the boats we are looking at. I am glad I did not buy a boat yet.

I therefore recommend that anyone contemplating buying a boat for long distance passages get and reads this book. Yes, I said long distance. Tho for the short-term, next 5 years, we would not being doing long passages (unless my lottery numbers come up!), but beyond, yes, that is in the Cruising Dream realm.
