The West Wight Potter 15

In the world of small cruising sailboat, or as often called micro-cruiser. I love these boats, sure they will not win any races, but they are fun to sail and spend weekends on (if you like camping style!) as they also open cruising grounds by cruising on the road at 60 knots to different destinations.

Potter 15

So , one of the first boat that comes to mind is the main character from the book mentioned in the previous post , the Potter 15.

What is a better name than Potter? Don't we all love to potter around in boats? This boat is still in production and has a long history. For all the details go to this page, but for now, I will simply quote the basics of the boat:

One of the best known and oldest sailboats in the cruising fraternity.

Over 2,600 of these compact cruisers currently sail all over the world.

It is thought to have been derived from the voyage of the Nova Espero from Halifax, Canada to England (in 44 days) built by brothers Stanley and Colin Smith in  1949. The detail of this voyage is detailed in The Wind Calls The Tune book (which of course I own and have read).  As it is no longer in print, go to Bookfinder.com to find a copy. A great read!

If you were so inclined, though, I do not think this has been done, I would think you could cross the stream to the Bahamas in that boat...of course carefully picking your weather window.

Tons of more details can be found here.

You really cannot go wrong buying this boat, super easy to resell too!

Cheers!
