Drain for cockpit and motor well |
I used my kayak pump to get the water out, which is quite fast and efficient. As it turns out, there is a small drain hole, just slightly wider than my index finger which is used to drain the cockpit, as well as the motor well.
I still need to snake or blow that drain, but this really seems a design miscalculation, so small...to drain all this. I am not sure why they did not build a large drain hole at the back of the motor well (well right next to it), it would seem more efficient and more aesthetically pleasing as well. Maybe it has to do with strength needed on that motor mount to hold those big outboard that Mac 19 tend to sport. Mine is 30HP, small by Mac 19 standard, but much bigger than what most sailboats have.
I may redesign this better in the future, not now, as the boat is currently in the water.
Cheers!
